Breast Health Fund

This special fund was established as a way to help provide free breast health services to women unable to pay for them on their own. Mammograms are considered the best screening tool for early detection of breast cancer. Last year nearly 100 women benefited from the free mammograms and breast health services at Sanford Health.

Great Support for Great Shapes
On October 5th the Sanford Health Foundation, Prairie Fired Pottery, and the Sanford Clinic – Breast Health Institute joined forces to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month by hosting the 3rd Annual Great Shapes event, and raised more than $20,000 for Sanford Health’s Breast Health Fund. Featuring an auction of one-of-a-kind, hand-painted pottery created by local celebrities, politicians, healthcare leaders, breast cancer survivors, and other community leaders, Great Shapes raises support for life-saving breast health services, including mammograms, for women in need.

More than 150 people attended this year’s gathering which was held at 8th and Railroad Center. Thank you to all who supported this meaningful event!

Women in the Wind
The South Dakota Chapter of Women in the Wind, a national organization of women motorcyclists, present Betty Meyer, Director of Clinic Operations for Sanford Health's Breast & Bone Health Institute, with a check for $575. The money was raised through the group's annual poker run held Mother's Day weekend.

The money will support Sanford Health’s Breast Health Endowment to help women receive life saving breast health services that they otherwise could not afford. "I wish you could hear the stories and know just how much this means to the women we serve," Betty Meyer said with tears as she received the donation. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
