

| When should you visit the Emergency Room? The Emergency Room is open 24-hours a day, 365 days per year. While the majority of patients admitted to the Emergency Room arrive by ambulance following injuries, accidents, or sudden traumatic illness, patients are also treated for illnesses and injuries that need immediate attention. Examples of emergencies include seizure or loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, inability to breathe or shortness of breath, chest pain, and broken bones. When should you visit Acute Care? Many situations are not emergencies, but do require immediate medical attention. These situations require what is referred to as acute care. Examples of urgent care needs include ear infections, sprains, high fevers, vomiting and urinary tract infections. |
